Advancement for Churches and Non-Profits
This course will introduce attendees to the fundamental role that resource development plays in the material and spiritual life of churches, and also faith-based nonprofit organizations.
Description
Taught by Rob Townes, a graduate of Candler School of Theology and a principal of the Atlanta-based fundraising consulting firm of Sinclair, Townes & Company, this four-week hybrid course will introduce attendees to the fundamental role that resource development plays in the material and spiritual life of churches, and also faith-based nonprofit organizations.
Participants should not only gain a theologically grounded understanding of financial stewardship, but also become knowledgeable regarding the practical ingredients for fundraising success.
This course is offered in partnership with the FAITH AND FINANCE program at Candler School of Theology, which provides a comprehensive approach to financial literacy, especially tailored to seminarians.

Instructor
Robert B. Townes IV is Executive Vice President of Sinclair, Townes & Company, a fundraising consulting firm in Atlanta. Rob has over 35 years of experience in nonprofit service and has provided annual, capital, and legacy giving counsel for numerous philanthropic organizations, including over 50 churches and church-based ministries. Previously, he served on staff as the director of fundraising in Atlanta for the American Heart Association and The Episcopal Radio-TV Foundation. He also provided fundraising counsel both as an independent consultant and with the firms Coxe & Associates, and Anderson, Cole & Dollhopf, Inc (see more).
