Wednesdays, August 14 - September 18, 2023 from 6:00 PM ET until 7:15 PM ET hosted at Mount Zion United Methodist Church in Marietta, Georgia.
The English Bible that we read today looks nothing like what was available to Jesus and the disciples. Almost everything that we now take for granted about the Bible – chapters, verses, paragraphs, translations, study notes, and even what books are included – is the result of a long and fascinating process.
This course aims to tell the story of how the Bible can to be, from the earliest texts and traditions to modern translations and versions.
Along the way, we will focus on the historical, theological, and technological factors that have shaped our modern notion of what the Bible is as well as how those factors impact the way we read Scripture today.
